There is a difference between products you buy and products you actually finish. I test a lot. Most things get halfway used and quietly retire to the back of the shelf. These five did not. I scraped the container, squeezed the tube, and got every last drop. Then I repurchased it. That is the whole review.
01
THE EXFOLIATOR
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. The one that started the obsession.

If you have been on skincare TikTok even once, you know this red liquid that looks strangely like blood. The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution has been a cult product since 2019 and it still has not lost a step. Ten minutes, once a week, and my skin texture is genuinely different. Not softer. Different. The kind of different that makes you look in the mirror and actually understand what “resurfaced” means. Glycolic, lactic, and tartaric acids alongside salicylic acid. Clears dead skin cells, improves hyperpigmentation, does not destroy your barrier as long as you follow the directions. Directions everyone ignores the first time and never ignores again. It is $15. Refilling this bottle is not a question. Like, I am always constantly running down to the store to make sure I am always in stock.
02
THE CLEANSER
CeraVe SA Renewing Cleanser
Boring name. Unreasonable results.

Nobody makes CeraVe sound exciting. That is almost the point. The SA Renewing Cleanser does exactly what it says: salicylic acid, ceramides, niacinamide. It cleans without stripping. Works on texture and hyperpigmentation over time without ever being aggressive about it. I used this morning and night for long stretches this year and my skin barrier never once complained. What keeps it in the rotation is how well it plays with actives. A cleanser that does not destabilize your other steps is genuinely rare. If you are building a routine from scratch or repairing a compromised barrier, this is the first thing I would put in your hands.

THE SERUM-TONER
Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner
K-beauty’s most underrated hero.

The Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner went from K-beauty niche to “I see it on every skincare creator’s shelf” in under a year. The formula is 77% heartleaf extract, which means it is doing real anti-inflammatory work. Not just hydrating. Actually calming the skin. I use it after cleansing, before serum, and it preps skin in a way that makes everything after it absorb better. My skin is combination-oily and Lagos humidity is not a gentle environment. This one stays in the routine regardless of season. I use it liberally, which is why the bottle goes fast, which is exactly the point.
04
THE SERUM
Anua Heartleaf Quercetinol Pore Serum
The second Anua. The one that sealed it.

If the toner got me interested in Anua, this serum made me loyal. The Heartleaf Quercetinol Pore Serum targets pores and it actually delivers. Not in a pore-strip-and-damage-everything way. In a “I forgot pores were a thing I worried about” way. Quercetinol is a plant-derived antioxidant. It works on sebum control and barrier repair simultaneously. Paired with the toner, these two create a real system. Light enough for oily skin. Substantive enough to actually hydrate. I repurchased before I finished the first bottle, which is the highest endorsement I give anything. And, this is like having gold for your skin.
05
THE SPF
Niu Sunscreen
The one non-negotiable.

Sunscreen anywhere is not optional, especially when you find yourself in an tropical environment. It is survival. And most SPFs that work on deeper skin tones either leave a white cast, pill under makeup, or smell like a beach towel. Niu is none of those things. The formula sits on skin like a moisturizer. No cast. No stickiness. Does not pill under foundation. I have tested a lot of sunscreens. This one gets used to the very last drop because I actually remember to wear it every morning, which is the only real test a sunscreen has to pass. Niu passes it every time. And, let me tell you I use to hate and when i say i hated having sunscreen one because it was formulated for me in mind. But, this one got me covered.
