The four-meter veil took the whole room. Dove Cameron stood inside the ruins of a 12th-century castle in Tuscany, in a custom Valentino Gown by Alessandro Michele, and the silk tulle behind her was embroidered with crystals and micro-beads forming constellations. Her middle name is Celeste. The veil was for her.
That is the image that defined the wedding of Dove Cameron and Damiano David. It happened over two days in September 2026, at a Rosewood resort called Castiglion del Bosco, in the hills outside Montalcino, a place with more than a thousand years of history. The couple split their time between Los Angeles and Rome. They met in 2022, backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards. Dove had just won Best New Artist. Damiano's band MÃ¥neskin was nominated too. He barely spoke two words to her that night. The next year, at the same show, he approached her about a song. They were both single. Everything moved fast after that.
They got engaged in October 2025, at their home in Los Angeles. By September, they had hired Alessandra Grillo to plan a wedding that was, in Dove's words, overwhelming. She told Vogue they spent a lot of time on the details: the flowers, the invitations, the flow of the weekend.
The first day was the civil ceremony. September 24. Montalcino. The Palazzo dei Priori, the town hall, all stone and medieval architecture. Just family and close friends. They drove up the cobbled streets in a vintage white Lancia convertible. A three-string version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah played. Dove's best friend Veronica St. Clair witnessed the signing. Afterward they went back to Castiglion del Bosco and ate risotto in a cellar and danced until late.
Dove wore a Giorgio Armani suit for that ceremony. Ivory. A floor-length cape. A white tie. Wide-leg trousers. No veil. The cape did the work. Damiano wore a double-breasted ivory suit by Giuliva Heritage, the Roman tailoring house. For the welcome dinner, Damiano's look changed. He wore Valentino by Alessandro Michele: a cream jacket, navy trousers, a burgundy foulard around his neck.
Then came the main ceremony, on September 26. The castle ruins. The fabric draped down the stone terraces. Green foliage, white hydrangeas, and calla lilies. Dove walked up the aisle with her mother, Bonnie. Kenny Ortega, who directed the first trilogy of Descendants films, officiated. The couple repeated a phrase that had followed them from the beginning: "The best part of being alive." It is engraved in both their engagement rings. It was embroidered inside Dove's corset.
Dove's dress was the one she wanted from the start. She told Vogue she wanted something drapey and ethereal, with movement but not too much fabric. Alessandro Michele and Valentino said yes. The dress was silk satin and layers of fluid chiffon. A structured bodice. A long train. On the back, a row of silk-covered buttons ran to the end of the train. Some were left undone on purpose, so the fabric fanned out as she walked. The veil was four meters of silk tulle, hand-embroidered with constellations. She wanted something celestial.
For the civil ceremony, she wore a different look entirely. A Giorgio Armani bridal suit. Ivory. A cape. A white tie. Trousers. No dress, no veil. Just tailoring, white, and a cape that trailed behind her. That look said something about how Dove Cameron has built a career on refusing to be pinned to one version of herself. Disney star. Punk singer. Actor. Provocateur. The suit was another version.
Damiano's main look was Giorgio Armani. A three-piece suit. Single-breasted. Cufflinks. A Bvlgari brooch on the lapel. Bvlgari cufflinks. An Audemars Piguet watch, lent from the brand's private museum. His stylist Michele Potenza called the look an elegance that did not need to announce itself.
After the ceremony, the guests gathered in the town square. Dove's mother and sister made speeches. A towering cake, covered in fruit and flowers, was cut. The Milanese baker Mami Louise made it. Then Dove changed into a Fausto Puglisi mini dress for Roberto Cavalli, with lace-up socks and Jimmy Choo heels, and went to a greenhouse on the property for Martini cocktails. DJ Nicky Macha played until very late.
"I have never felt joy and love like that in my life," Dove said afterward. "It was a long, beautiful dinner filled with speeches and amazing food and drinks and dancing." She added, simply, that she was over the moon.
The wedding was photographed by Alessia Franco. Dove was styled by Marc Eram. Damiano by Michele Potenza. Makeup by Kale Teter. Hair by Jacob Rozenberg.
